Milltown, NJ (March 25, 2020) – The United Way of Central Jersey recently announced the receipt of a $25,000 donation from the Plymouth Rock Foundation to the organization’s COVID-19 Recovery Fund.
“Plymouth Rock Assurance has supported local communities throughout New Jersey since we opened our doors in Hoboken nearly 30 years ago,” said Hal Belodoff, President and Chief Operating Officer, The Plymouth Rock Company Incorporated. “We are committed to helping the people who are most in need as a result of the effects of COVID-19. We’re pleased to be able to support the United Way of Central New Jersey’s COVID-19 Recovery Fund with a grant made through the Plymouth Rock Foundation.” The Fund will assist individuals and families affected by the novel coronavirus. The purpose is to provide assistance with crucial basic expenses including rent, utilities, prescription medication/ medical supplies, child care and food.
“United Way of Central Jersey Board and staff are committed to providing support for the most vulnerable members of our community during the COVID-19 crisis and beyond,” said Lawrence P. O’Connell, Chair of the United Way Board of Trustees. Gloria Aftanski, United Way President and Chief Professional Officer, noted that the United Way will be working with trusted community partners to identify clients who are most in need of temporary assistance. “We know that there are working families in Central Jersey who are only a paycheck or two away from financial disaster,” she said. “The Fund will help with paying for basic necessities.”
Donations to the COVID-19 Support Fund may be made online through the United Way website at www.uwcj.org. Checks made payable to “United Way” may be mailed to United Way of Central Jersey, 32 Ford Avenue, Milltown, NJ, 088650.
