Health

United Way works for a healthier America

Whether it is a neighbor without health insurance, a victim of abuse, or someone struggling with mental illness or an addiction, United Ways are working to ensure everyone has access to affordable and quality care.

We're helping people in our community improve their health.  United Way is working to increase access to critical healthcare services, reduce substance abuse, child abuse and domestic violence and increasing health education and preventative care.

In working to improve preventative care and access to health care United Way of Central Jersey's initiatives are making short-termprogress on long-term goals.  We're also collaborating with local partners and community-based programs to focus on improving population health in Middlesex County.

Healthier Families

United Way works with low-income, first-time mothers to help ensure healthy birth results.  Research shows:

  • 48% reduction in child abuse and neglect
  • 56% reduction in emergency room visits for accidents and poisonings
  • $5.70 return per dollar invested
