Community Impact Agenda

Every year United Way of Central Jersey (UWCJ) runs an Annual Fundraising Campaign and the most common question asked is “Where does the money go?”

UWCJ breaks down all the donations and pledges into four categories that encompass areas of concern within our community. This break down is how UWCJ can best sort out how to impact the community needs, therefore we call it our Community Impact Agenda.

Our Community Impact Areas are:
  • Helping Children Succeed:  Ensuring a quality start for underserved children; reducing high school drop-out rates; improving basic literacy skills.
  • Fostering Self-Sufficiency:  Moving families and individuals beyond poverty; responding to people in crisis; connecting people in need to help through 2-1-1
  • Caring for Seniors and People with Disabilities:  Helping the elderly and people with disabilities live independently, with dignity and respect
  • Accessing Healthcare:  Helping people in need get access to quality health services and identify and manage chronic disease

Some of our donors are drawn to one or two categories more than the others and have the option to designate any portion of their donation to that category. Others do not designate to a specific category which allows UWCJ to channel those donations to the categories that have the greatest needs. Our Community Impact Agenda provides UWCJ with the ability to combine all donations so they are "Working together to do "
